Jewish Life in Cuba

Following the Cuban government’s decision to ease restrictions on religious expression in 1991, JDC was permitted to re-enter the country and provide assistance to the Jewish community.

JDC ensures basic needs, such as food and medicine, of community members are being met. We train and develop emerging young leaders and facilitate continued community development through Jewish education and cultural opportunities.

JDC’s efforts also include the rehabilitation of Jewish communal institutions and the establishment of a community pharmacy at the Patronato, the Jewish Community Center and Conservative Synagogue in Havana.

Cuba’s Jewish community relies on support from JDC and on contributions from overseas Jewish communities. You can support the Cuban Jewish community below.
